Windows think top is down

Good morning

Having an issue with my windows staying in the part way down position at all times. I can use the window buttons to lower them fully open, but they won't close fully and stay open about 4 inches so I think the windows think the roof is down when it isn't. Brand new middle microswitch installed...the only way I can get them to close is by using the key in the drivers door by holding it in the lock position. Can anyone shed some light on what may be causing this? My roof relay seems a bit wonky...sometimes I have to jiggle it a bit to get the roof to move so wondering if its related to that..Im wondering if its a rear microswitch?

Cheers

Brian

Have you tried to manually activate the microswitch near the rear view mirror?

I had the same problem and I had to heat the arm that activates that microswitch and twist it slightly to make it work like it should.
Temporary solution for me was to stick couple layers of duct tape on the top latch so it pushed the arm further into the microswitch.

Edit: the arm I mentioned is a small plastic part inside the housing near the rear view mirror, not the top latch.

If the latch where the micro switch is is wonky that will cause you a problem.

Stick a pen into where the micro switch is and attempt to close the window.

If it closes it means the latch from the top isn’t making good contact.

Ensure the latch is not lose or broken.

Yes, the microswitch is brand new...and yes I have tried just depressing to activate the switch with my finger. Unless theres another piece ( switch etc ) in there causing this then maybe the issue lies elsewhere? All the power window fuses test good. Im thinking theres another switch somewhere or a voltage thats not getting to where it should be.

Thanks

Appears to be a problem with the convertible top relay. Once I remove the relay, although the top won't work, the windows will now go up by using the switches. They would basically stay in the part way open position. There is a youtube video on this somewhere where it was exactly the same issue and by replacing the relay the problem went away. I noticed that the relay module has a bunch of caps in it, I am thinking to test some of these and perhaps just try and recap it and see if that repairs it...If anyone has done with with success please feel free to chime in. The windows are working and I will be putting the hardtop back on soon, I also have a line on a used relay so hopefully its the proper one...will find out this weekend, Cheers
