No engine power

I was on the freeway when suddenly my car cut power to the engine. My friend jumped me the first time this happened, I made it a good 100 ft before it shut off again but this time the engine cranked a couple times only to shut off shortly after starting, now my car won't even try to start. Getting in the car, I turn the key and everything light up as usual. The problem is only apparent when I turn the key to start position and nothing happens.

I trouble shot my car in hopes I could get it running again.

First, I checked all the fuses to make sure they were all connected.
Second, I checked the main power ground point to make sure it was clean and snug.
Third I checked all the connections to the starter to make sure everything was tight.
Finally, I used my key to lock the car and got my alarm to go off then unlocked it with the key, to make sure it was not the anti-theft system. Still nothing I don't know what to do from here.

Any ideas to help avoid a college kid towing his Porsche to a dealership would be great!
