Just to be clear, this is most likely the traction control light, not anything to do with brake wear.

First, the location is wrong for brake wear, and the image looks different.

2nd, having the car in the air has nothing to do with the thickness of the brake pads

third, having the car in the air would be likely to confuse the car as the front wheels aren't turning.
