Can ignition switch effect tiptronic?

Have an 03 base Boxster. Was getting shift solenoid codes on my tiptronic and going into limp modes. Had the transmission rebuilt, new shift solenoids, wiring harness, TCU, etc. It still went into limp mode. Our shop took it to a euro transmission rebuild shop to have it tested, again. It did go into limp mode with them after driving it 2 weeks. But could not find out why it was going into limp mode(same code for shift solenoid). Then they called a Porsche master mechanic and first thing he said was the ignition switch. It could be going bad. Said that it could be sending false electronic readings to transmission causing it to go limp mode.

Has anyone ever heard of this happening? This is a new one on me. In my 65 yrs of being on this Earth, 50 years of driving and owning cars, never heard this one.

If anyone has any suggestions or comments, you are very welcome to contribute. This thing has been in the shop now for almost 8 months with this issue.

Thanks.
