Lseat install

First piece and I am stuck on how to proceed. Thought I would start with the center insert. Pulled the old skin off and now I can't figure out how to get the hog ring attached in the slots Indicated by arrow. Would someone point me in the right direction on how to attach the hog ring?

I put the hog ring pliers through the slit you are pointing at. I then used my other hand to push the strip they attach to from the other side to line it up and hold it in place when clamping the hog ring. Some took me several attempts but I eventually got them all.
