Xenon Headlights Boxster 97

Interested in purchasing used Xenon headlight assembly for my 1997 Boxster. I have the standard Halogen but the reflector is cracked due to heat. Common issue. Will the Xenon work? Are they just plug and play?

Litronics you mean?
No, not really. The assembly will fit, but there is an extra connector. I am not sure if that is simply headlight leveling control, or ballast power.

Maybe get an aftermarket set or retrofit bi-xenon projector?

They are plug and play as long as you are fine with fixed manual adjustable lights. I have them that way in my 98. If you have to have the auto leveling and high beam fill then you will have to buy controller, suspension linkage and wiring.

What do you mean by fixed manual adjustable light via auto levelling and high beam. I won’t be doing a lot of night driving and just want to replace my halogens because the reflectors are cracked.

To remove the headlight - it just comes out, but this one, equipped with Litronics, has an additional plug that is used to adjust the headlights.

Many HID systems had autoleveling - if the car is empty, the lights will light up the road fine, if the car gets heavy, front may lift up and then they light up too high. Hence, autoleveling will adjust them down.

Can be done manually or, if you never drive with extra load (actually, quite hard to do in Boxster) - never touch it again.

Ok thanks PLP. So basically because my car was originally fitted with the Xenon assembly I won’t have that extra connector?

What about the washer at the corner? Would that be an issue?

Forgive me for my ignorance. I am new to this world.

I may have been able to source a pair of Xenon headlight assemblies for a reasonable price so this is why I am asking. I don’t want to purchase it and then it doesn’t work. As long as it works I am ok with that.

Ok so the only thing that won’t work is the auto level feature. How do you manually adjust?
