Raising the steering wheel
I am a taller guy with longer legs and have issues with my knees clearing the wheel when it is turned. I pull the wheel all the way out, but it is still not enough. I would move to a smaller wheel as I find the factory wheel to be too large, but there are no wheels I can find that are smaller and still have an airbag. That leaves me with raising the wheel. I haven't taken apart the lower dash yet to see how the column is attached to the dash bar, but wanted to know if you guys know if it would be possible to raise the rack by removing spacers that may exist?

I assume (but still need to ask anyway) have you LOWERED the driver's seat all the way DOWN too???

Yes. All the way down and back.

Here's the steering column: http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1621432442.jpg I don't have a good pic handy of the dashboard fully removed, but this one shows some of the framework under the dash cover: http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1621432685.jpg It's going to probably require some fabrication of the framework to raise the steering column. Have you looked at doing a console delete? It opens room for your right knee. https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Boxster_Tech/75-BODY-GT3_Console_Delete/75-BODY-GT3_Console_Delete.htm |
Or have a low bucket seat.

That is definitely going to be a challenge. Probably not something I want to spend the time doing...yet.

The 987 seat also sets you a touch lower
