Changed my gear oil to new porsche gear oil. I didn't know if it was ever changed so I read all the forum articles I could find. I decided to drill the 2" hole instead of removing the plate. Getting the fill plug out was really difficult, thanks to the forum for the warning. A breaker bar and 2 foot pipe was required. It made a loud snap when it yielded, I thought I broke it. The hole was easy to drill and the dark oil drained. I fill it wit 2 liters then measured .25 liters into the funnel. The 11mm dipstick was used to check. I only had one drive but the cold second gear shift was easier, and smooth when warmed up. Only a few tiny magnetic particles were in the bottom of my bucket. The forum has dimension to locate the drain hole in the pan. I found the tools at local parts stores.
I used Mobil 1 DELVAC 75w90 for my 6 spd tranny oil change. I think it was in the 101 projects book. $52 for a gallon on Amazon.
The five speed uses a different oil.
