Lost my lug bolt key

Just put car up on jacks. Go to grab the locking lug bolt key and :eek:

Trying to think of last shop to work on it.

Is there anyone in Western NY that could lend me a key? I'm in Rochester.

Get a cheap 12pt socket that will almost slide over the wheel lock... Then hammer the crap out of it onto the wheel lock. Use a ratchet to remove the wheel lock as normal.

Then buy regular lug bolts and toss wheel locks and any idea of ever putting wheel locks on anything else in the garbage. :D

What Qingdao said. I believe an 19mm 12-point will be your ticket. Pound it on over the key nut and twist it off with a ratchet. I bought a car once that had those things and no key. It worked like a charm.

Or... just purchase four nuts/bolts/whatever that are one to two sizes smaller in diameter than the others and install one on each wheel. If a criminal really wants the wheels we hope he didn't bring that smaller socket.

Yes, with a BFH. Use the smallest socket that you can fit on it.

19mm over the outside of the locking lug.

Good luck w ur lock wheel bolt removal. When ready I have 20+ std ones I can sell u cheap + shipping but cannot get out until I'm back where I keep them (mid/late April).

You can go to a dealer and get a replacement key. They are cheap, and most dealers have them in stock. That's what I did.

Went to a Porsche dealership to have them match up the keyed lug from their master key set. They finally found it. Rather than buying a key, they agreed to pull out all 4 keyed lugs and replace them with unkeyed. Am very happy.

But - thee keys are not all the same and his doesn't fit my old ones.

Was about to go at it with BFH and guess what - Found the key in shoebox in garage with other Boxster items I "cleaned" out before storage last year.

I found myself in this same exact situation this wknd trying to switch out some rims,went to our dealer today..No such luck on dealer replacements, I may be doing the 19mm BFH process this wknd, the only place I had not looked yet is under my seats, which will be done tonight ..!!

Go to any tire installer, they will have a key to remove it.

Recently I used a 12pt 11/16" socket and hammer method to get my locking bolts out. Worked way better than the 19mm rounded nut remover tool I bought.

Yes,.STL-986 Dealer said do ya have a Discount tire close.LOL Luckily I found it in the passenger seat rear pocket..Damn NO clue why I would put it in there !!

Good afternoon everyone,

Like others, I thought I had lost my lug bolt key as well. I looked everywhere imaginable, except where I found it - in the pocket of my spare tire cover, still in the plastic bag waiting patiently for me to put it to use. I will, one time only. Then I’ll put the 4 new lug bolts on instead. For those who have been asking about the part number for this little headache, it’s JD04402 - at least that’s what is printed on my plastic bag. Big thanks to the previous owner who saved everything associated with my boxster.
