I Checked My Engine!

With all the concerns and long threads (which is now locked!...funny how that always happens when you disagree or challenge Brucelee) about exploding engines, I decided to check mine out real well this weekend, since I had some free time. I am happy to report that I did not fine any explosive devices.

Angry

For the record:

I never said that these engines "exlode." That phrase was generated by the original poster.

These engines do "fail" primarily due to IMS shaft design flaws. This is actually not in dispute, as it was first brought to my attention by my Porsche service rep. Later the issue got aired out in Panorama. Nothing controversial here.

What IS in dispute is how frequently this happens. I don't see us ever having THAT data, why would we and who would release this data, Porsche?

I closed the thread due to it becoming a pissing contest that could not go anywhere.

Sorry you felt the need to bring it up again and to throw in a cheap shot at me in the bargain. As moderator, I use my best judgement when deciding that things are about to go awry.

Perhaps you will do the same next time around.

Hi,

Yea, I guess I'm missing the point of this thread. Seems like it's meant to instigate something or bait someone. Not enough controversy on the list today I guess. bmussatti is a GREAT member, so I'm a little surprised frankly.

BTW, for the record, I think Rich (aka Brucelee) does a pretty good job of moderating this Forum. Trying to keep order in this bunch can't always be easy. It's been my experience that things have to really deteriorate before he steps in...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99

bmussatti, they didn't install explosive devices in the V8 you appearantly have. Those are just in the 6-bangers. You're safe.
