Where's the ignition release wire?

Hi, My 2007 boxster resides in a garage in another residence attached to a battery tender, I haven't driven it much.
I took it for a ride today, and when I returned to the garage the ignition key was stuck in the ignition. Moving the steering wheel or jiggling the shifter did not help.

So Ive seen a lot of posts about replacing the ignition switch, I'll do this over the next few months.
For now I want to get the key out, some posters mentioned pulling on a steel wire to release it, can anyone point me to where I can find that wire? Are there pictures or a youtube video?

In the meantime, I hooked the car back up to the battery tender. Will it be okay with tender going and the the key still in the ignition?

Thanks
