Front Brake Pads

I have a couple of questions I would like help with concerning my 99 boxster base P-Car.

1)When I was doing the front brake pads the stock pads had a little pin sticking out from each of the stock pads(Brembo) and the replacement pads I bought (Akebono) had the ear for them but no pins came with the pads....So do I need to transfer the pins or does it not really matter ?

2)When I pulled out the brake pad wear sensor from the terminal with the metal clip holding it in that has to identical plugins I did not see if it mattered which way it plugged into the socket because it seems that you can plug it in one way or turn it 180 and it will plug in that way also...So does it matter exactly which way that plug goes into the socket or will it work either way ?
