Weird thing in my dash

I took the Boxster out of hibernation today, and when I went to start it up I saw this in the dashboard. It wasn't there last fall when I put the car to bed. It looks like a bug eating the paint on the inside of the gauge. Any ideas?

Not sure if it will help you, but I remember this thread from a while ago: http://986forum.com/forums/boxster-general-discussions/77694-help-my-cluster-has-worms.html

There are repair kits available. The LCD element needs to be changed.

Thanks for the responses guys. 78F, that link was super helpful. It looks like this is not an uncommon problem, and seems to be linked to storage at low temperatures. Some had the worms disappear after driving for a while, and as nothing on my display is covered at the moment, I'm going to give that a try!

Mine disappeared once ambient temps warmed up.
