2009 Boxster (base) and Evolution Brakes Question

Hello,

I have a 2009 Boxster (base) with the 2.9 motor.

I am looking for a low dust brake solution.

A buddy recommended to me the Evolution ceramic brake pads by Power Stop.

When I looked at their website, it looks like the front brakes are only available if you also buy their new rotors for the front.

For the rear, they offer pads only if that is all you want (which is fine with me).

Has anyone else purchased the Evolution brakes by Powerstop ? If so, do you know by chance if the front brake pads can be purchased without getting new rotors ?

I bought front and rear pads off tire rack. Little or no dust and no special rotors required. They had lots of options

I went back to the PowerStop website and figured out what I had done wrong. I was able to order new (lower dust) brake pads for my 2009 Boxster

I went back to my spreadsheet to see if I'd done brake pads on your Boxster. Looks like I didn't do them. They must have not needed changing when I had it. Was in the upper 20K mi when I sold it.

I really like the Powerstop ceramic pads. Low cost, low dust and great performance.
I have used them for a couple of years as my DD pads

I've used the EBC RedStuff pads for the same reasons. They're ceramic pads, so low / no dust. They wear forever. But don't subject them to hard use!

EBC Reds are a really good pad. Kind of a trackable street pad. I used them for AX, but found as I got faster and drove harder on the track, they could not handle the extra heat so eventually went with a full track pad for the track

I find the powerstops a better deal than the reds and they were fine for AX as well.

IMHO you won't go wrong with either

Just a quick follow-up, the brakes work fine, no issue with quality or performance.

I love those wheels Husker... they are beauties. I spend more time washing the wheels than I do the rest of the car

My buddy Dave/Chief said he had a good "low dust" experience with the Powerstop/Evolution brake pads... so, I thought I'd give them a try.

New brake pads arrive tomorrow.... I'm no mechanic but I've got great YouTube skills

It takes longer to jack up the car and remove the wheels than it does to actually change the pads

Last year I purchased "lift bars" to help raise the vehicle up.

I need to get a new floor jack that is low enough...with my current old floor jack, I need to get a couple of 2x10's under each tire to allow enough room to get my floor jack under the lift bars.

Absolutely agree with Jay, the pad replacement doesn't take long. Don't forget to bed in the new pads when you're done.

lift bars are great. That will save you time

Harbor freight has a pretty good low profile jack for under $100. I have one and it works great

Be careful when pulling the sensors from the pads, they break easily. Consider tieing them off and not reinserting ion the pads. The pad wear is easy to see through the wheels
