OCAP vs Meyle - 986 Boxster coffin arms

Having recently bought a higher mileage 2001 Boxster S I've been replacing suspension bits. New control arm links eliminated the low speed knocking both front and back. A local supplier talked me into buying OCAP front control (coffin) arms. I installed them and the ride was harsh with lots of kickback through the steering. Handling just didn't feel right. Not the refined fluidity expected of the Boxster. Ordered Meyle lower control arms from Pelican, just installed them and me and my car are breathing a sigh of relief. Everything feels great. So, I'm putting this out there for all who wonder if there is a difference. OH YES! Expensive lesson. The castings look identical, but obviously Meyle has tuned the bushings properly, whereas OCAP has not. In the picture, the OCAP arm is on the left.

Thanks for this. I am about to deal with this one soon, so this is great to know. It seems like (in general) the difference between Porsche Branded parts and the German or “Tier 2” level of parts is not all that great. But the difference between “Tier 2 (Meyle, etc) and “Tier 1” (OCAP, URO, etc. can vary wildly. This is just my opinion. Any thoughts?

Glad to share this info. I was actually looking for some definitive info on this (OCAP vs Meyle) online but couldn't find any actually A to B comparison on the same vehicle. So here is my experience, and in the case of 986 coffin arms, the Meyle are good, OCAP are garbage

Meyle parts are quality, they may be made in China, but to German specs and at a high quality factory

How about TRW suspension arms - any experience with quality of those?

TRW are quality parts. I replaced the rear control arm links on my 2001 Boxster S with TRW, but couldn't find them for the front, so went with Meyle. So as it stands, up front I have Meyle coffin arms and control arm links, and in back TRW control arm links. The car feels soooo much better. Next it's Meyle rear lower control (coffin) arms. Plus I got some 987 Cayman 18-inch wheels and just put on Michelin PS 4S, although I haven't put them on the car yet. Waiting for the weather to warm up.

I'm pretty certain that TRW are the original equipment supplier to Porsche. You can't buy better.

Great news, thank you
I just had installed TRW suspension arms (8 each) to my 2001 Boxster and, yes it feels sooooo much better than before with old tired suspension arms.
