Oil splash valve/oil spray jet test

Hey Folks,

I removed the oil spray jets from the crank bearing carrier, or as the manual calls it, splash valves with the intension to test/clean them. Any idea how to do this? At what pressure should they open? Or should I just replace them? They are not expensive, but I could use that money for something else for sure..

Thanks,
Greg

Use compressed air to blow out the jets, most should obviously be fine. If not soak in Simple green or similar mild solvent followed by compressed air. That's what i did for my engine rebuild & reused them all. ("Maytag")

you called?

Perhaps I misunderstand your "Maytag" tag?

What can I do for you? How can I add to this topic?

Ok, thanks. I ordered new ones already, but I`ll save the old ones.

spin or no spin

So I received the new set of splash valves, and I`m a bit puzzled because the brass jets are not moving in the new ones, but in the old ones I can easily rotate them relative to the aluminum part. Should they be spinning during operation? If not, does the orientation matter?

Thanks for any input.
