WOW! That looked like fun!.....until the snow bank, that is. Nonetheless I give you credit for trying it. I'd be happy if I did half as well. Impressive!
Who pays for the damage on the car?

It’s fun but so counterintuitive! You need to keep turning the wheel into the turn while giving it gas and pulling on the hand-brake while sliding sideways! Gotta love those Subies!

It's even harder with a mid-engine car. Glad you tried it. I believe everyone should try it as it will help your driving skills. Maybe not so much with all the modern nanny devices that come on vehicles now a days, but definitely anyone who races or tracks a car.

In your photo the driver is steering into the slide which is normal for me. With the 4 wheel drive on the Subi rally car, you had to turn the wheel into the corner (where you wanted to go), pull on the hand brake and give it the gas so your front wheels would pull you through. Very tricky to get the knack!

The chances of damaging the car are slim, it is a short course and the snow banks are deep enough to keep you from hitting the guard rails. That being said the front bumper cover on at least one of the cars seemed to have a lot of rivets in it. The company covers any damage.

Sometimes a Scandinavian flick is the best approach into a corner slide. It takes some practice but you might find it easier. You don't have to use take your hands off the wheel.

I learned to do that handbrake turn with my Vega. It didn't have enough grunt to power slide!

Looks like fun...winter tires or studs (not sure if they still are allowed)
Drifting is an art, I can "barely" control virtually, so chapeau, James

I learned how to drive in snow with a VW Beetle delivering newspapers at 4 am. I was 17. In deep snow I would put the front fender into the drift which pushed out the rear end, counter steer, accelerate in 2nd or 3rd to get the torque to get you going. Slip sliding away. Everybody should try it, great clinic on car control. Lots of fun, and I did it while bagging newspapers at the same time. That’s where you earn your creds. No one else one the road, and a blast!
