WOW! That looked like fun!.....until the snow bank, that is. Nonetheless I give you credit for trying it. I'd be happy if I did half as well. Impressive!
Who pays for the damage on the car? |
Looks like SO much fun (and I am sure its not easy!).
|
It’s fun but so counterintuitive! You need to keep turning the wheel into the turn while giving it gas and pulling on the hand-brake while sliding sideways! Gotta love those Subies!

It's even harder with a mid-engine car. Glad you tried it. I believe everyone should try it as it will help your driving skills. Maybe not so much with all the modern nanny devices that come on vehicles now a days, but definitely anyone who races or tracks a car. |

Looks like good fun, cold, but good fun! Lucky James, again  |

I learned to do that handbrake turn with my Vega. It didn't have enough grunt to power slide!
|
Looks like fun...winter tires or studs (not sure if they still are allowed)
Drifting is an art, I can "barely" control virtually, so chapeau, James |
This is where I learned how to do that kind of driving: https://www.bobbyoresports.com/

I learned how to drive in snow with a VW Beetle delivering newspapers at 4 am. I was 17. In deep snow I would put the front fender into the drift which pushed out the rear end, counter steer, accelerate in 2nd or 3rd to get the torque to get you going. Slip sliding away. Everybody should try it, great clinic on car control. Lots of fun, and I did it while bagging newspapers at the same time. That’s where you earn your creds. No one else one the road, and a blast!

Thats how I learned some car control also..winter snows in WV (wheeling,VW ) in a MGB...Just a few more Laps Newart and you will have it,.!!
