Based on internet researching, I believe the 987 BOSE subwoofer box will fit a 986. The port design looks slightly different though. The 987 unit is more angular to match the changes interior styling.

Some might not care about this, but I hunted around for the 986 version to make sure it all looked period appropriate. The 987 version is far more common.

So do you think a thin mount 10” sub driver would fit in that bose deck box?

I’d say it would be pretty unlikely. Here’s what the internals of the BOSE box looks like. You might as well fabricate something from the ground up if you’re going to try to use a huge 10” driver.

Thanks yeah probably too tight. I modified a 996 cabriolet tunnel sub box for a shallow 8” kicker sub. Works well enough. Goes deep.
