Same intermittent lid unlocking issue with my 2004.

The frunk actuator for 2001+ models (Part No 996 512 117 00) comprises 2 components:
· the actuator module (Part No 996 624 117 01)
· the cable assembly (Part No 996 511 017 02).

The module on its own is twice the price of the total kit. Go figure. So you wouldn't buy it.

However, the defective bit inside the module is the small 12V DC Johnson motor.
If you so desire, a replacement can be sourced from aliexpress.com (for about US$14).

9 tooth cog and make sure neoprene terminal block is at same end of motor as drive cog.
Here is link to motor I purchased: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32948549948.html?spm=2114.12010612.8148356.28.9747 708aB312Uf
Or google: "AZGIANT Official Store".

Motor Replacement Procedure (Pics attached)
1. Press off cable guide hood from actuator module
2. Split open body of actuator module with small flat-blade jeweller's screwdriver
3. Using long nose pliers pull out 2 contact blade pins from terminal housing of actuator module to release motor
4. Remove motor from actuator module
5. Install new motor and reinsert blade pins into terminal housing through to motor terminals
6. Clip module halves back together and clip cable guide hood back in place

I have just done this, reinstalled in car, and all is working strongly.
