How to fit aftermarket shift knobs ?

I purchased a used shifter housing and installed " Ben's " short shifter and upgraded side lever . I could reuse the OEM shift knob and boot or maybe go with something different . It seems like all aftermarket shift knobs are designed to screw onto a round threaded shift rod . Obviously our Boxsters have a rectangular shaped shift rod . So how are you guys adapting these ? If I go aftermarket I want it to look and perform good not a kludged mess . Pics would be helpful if available .

I recently purchased one from a forum member that I'd seen on eBay. It is a really nice knob with the gator and trim. The knob went on without issue and was secured by three set screws. It is very tight.

This looks great! Exactly the look I was searching for. The listing is for a 996 but I assume this would also fit a 986? Sorry, newbie here.

Yeah, some are specifically designed to fit the rectangular shaft, but most have set screws. There are some great options out there. EBAY has some of the best ones for the $$, made in Germany and fit perfectly. Or, you could go the GT route with Alcantera, not TOO crazy expensive and really nice.

I looked for quite a while and the ICT knobs out of Germany were the only ones to look oem to me and are cake to install with the slot already cut to fit the shifter.

As a bonus, the LED that you can get with it looks great lighting up the shift pattern when dark.

The alternate to allow use of any round/set screw knob is to grind the shaft to fit.
