Re-wiring OBD2 adapter

Hi guys. As the title suggests, I want to leave in the Bluetooth adapter on a permanent basis, the downside is that it always draws power from the OBD port from a +12. Now my research tells me that port 1 is an ignition live and port 16 is a permanent live.
Therefore an I right to assume to I can remove pin 16 from the adapter and where it connects to the circuit board re-wire that to pin 1?

Has anyone successfully done this to confirm? I know I could buy a switch and use a relay from ignition, but that would require wiring external to the adapter and it's location means I would prefer to not do that.

Cheers guys, any thoughts?
