Right below the fan there was no cover, you could see the resistor in it's clip on the rail. The covers are likely missing, and are probably for access anyway.

Otherwise, you could just turn the wheel one way, and pop open the wheel liner right there too....vice versa for the other side.

The new resistors are up out of the way of possible road debris, and are attached to the back of the fan assembly to optimize airflow on them for cooling.

Saw several writeups on the 996 forum too, and went for it.

Super easy.

ps...use a soldering gun, then good heat-shrink to seal the wires up.
