I've never liked the look of this type of headlight, on any car. Glad you're happy with the mod, though!

As said, kudos for sure. For that coin, I would rather just do a litronic upgrade. As Particleweave mentioned, most of those aftermarket LED lamps really are pretty bad quality wise. I just ditched my DEPO tail lights to go back to stock. The fit and finish was crap, they looked cheesy in the end, and when I pulled them (I didn’t install them) the housing was all broken and worthless. Threw them away. I’ve got relatively clear stock headlights with upgraded lamps and I just got my silver corners, which makes the amber work better IMO.

I have to agree that I prefer the OEM style, but that's not what this thread is about.
Kudos to OP for doing what he wants to - it's not my style but they do look nice and I'm sure the light output is improved over the halogens

I did. They're garbage.

I'm not trying to make the guy feel bad, just trying to prevent others from flushing $1,000 down the crapper.
Yes, after working on them, I really despise them. Terrible quality...

Hmmm, I don’t have my Boxster anymore, but here’s a pic of it when I did have it the year prior with the OEM headlamps, and I think it looked good with the plain old headlights. Lol. Sorry, but those headlights look really aftermarket to me. And darn...for $1k, you can get a used set of the factory Litronics.

Oh, and what’s wrong with the OEM tail lights? I didn’t think they made the car look old at all...

WOW...the new headlights are already down to 500€.
Now someone needs to 3D print "Klimtlights" covers, lol.

A year on, how are these Gen 2 headlights holding up? Any issues? Any failed LEDs?

Asking as these are now less expensive than a pair of OEM lights and I need to replace both of mine.

To explain: Charles' upgrade (which I'd love) unfortunately impossible for me, and Litronics would require the entire leveling install, which is unfeasible $$$-wise.

IIRC the stock Litronics retrofit can be done but the auto levelling just won't work.

It'll work if you install ALL the components. This includes sensors on your suspension. The full kit is expensive, but a requirement if you want to do it according to Polish regulations.

Okay, so everyone is commenting about the looks. De gustibus non disputandum est.

How about saying something about their reliability?

Still don't like that look of a bunch of LEDs; looks cheap. I didn't even like it on early versions on Audis, but love the solid edging they've used since 2013. Chevys and Nissans have these rows of LEDS and it is not a artful look.

I will be trying this mod in a couple months for sure. Watched a youtube on doing it and have practiced opening one headlight already on a damaged one i had. Getting that thing open is not easy or fun.

Here's the cheap way - Avery Dennison vinyl wrap to match the car, applied directly to the headlight, and then mini Cooper headlight bezels with the backs ground flush and attached using 3m trim tape. The look is good I think. Not as good as JB'e but for $65 and 1 hour of work it's not too shabby! Throw in new led bulbs and reroute the turn signal light wiring to the parking light bulb and you've got a pretty decent setup.
