This all started with looking to install a double din, but crutchfield tells me it won’t work with this amp, and I’d have to run new speaker wires, or tap into them at the amp. I don’t want to cut the amp harness so trying to find a work around.
Can someone please educate me?

I have the same setup in my 2004 S. I was going to get a Double DIN system installed and had a guy look at my car to quote how much it'd cost to fit one. He said that what you can do is by-pass the existing amp and simply plug the current speakers into the new head-unit. The amp in the Boxster only outputs about 45W and most new head units will out about 35-40W anyway and they'll be modern tech rather than using an amp which is 16 years old.
The guy quoted me £850 to fit the new double DIN and move the ac unit down to where the 6CD storage tray is.
I'm thinking of fitting a Pioneed SPH-10BT single DIN unit but need to know if I'd need to use any cable adapters.
Did you get any advice from anybody on what to do?
