roof liner

There are 2 plastic hooks attached to the roof liner on both sides ,that seem to attach somewhere to keep the liner tight. Does anyone know where to attach them? Thanks in advance.

Mine came with a new top, and the plastic clip was off and flapping on the passenger side.

Take the cover off by the pillar. 1 phillips screw, loosen the small nut just under the seat belt where it mounts to the roll bar. Its just snugs the plastic seat belt guide to the side panel. It comes up and out.

Open the roof to service position, pop off the two cables from the ball ends to lift the top up so you can get your arm in there.

The plastic hook goes inside of the arm, and clips around the pivot base. Its a bit of a tight spot...you may need a driver or something to help guide it. It's where the base of the lifting arm attaches to the car/hinged there...a silverish colour shaft. There's a pic on the forum showing the clipped hook. I ended up taking the driver's side panel off for reference...probably easier than trying to balance your laptop/phone/tablet on the car.

Reinstall and enjoy.

1st pic driver's side, 2nd is passenger side.

I searched plastic hook and elastics for 986 top...these pics are from a chap in the UK

It's a bit of a pain in the ass, but doable.
