Unlocking door from inside

Hello,

Recently I got boxster 1999, 2.7 l.

Until now, I can only unlock the door from inside by pressing dash button.

But the user manual said, i can unlock and open the door by
1. Pull inner door handle once to unlock door lock
2. Pull inner door handle again to open the door.

Is there micro switch or other things in inner door handle which unlock the door?

Please help to locate what to fix so I can unlock the door with inner door handle.
