Change engine oil
Check air filter
Diagnosis system:Readout fault memory
Check underside of vehicle &engine compartment
Power-assisted steering: check fluid level
Check coolant hoses radiatiors and air inlets
Check coolant level and antifreeze protection level
Replace pollen filter
Inspect brake hoses and lines
Check brake fluid level
Inspect drive shaft boots
Check tires and spare wheel (if you have one)
Check firewall and cabrio section body drains
Check door locks, lid locks & safety hook of the front lid
Check vehicle lights
Check headlight alignment
Check horn
Check windshield washer &headlight washer
Check operation of all other electrical equipment as well as indicator and warning lights.

As you can see, many of these items could be checked by yourself and save a wad of dough. Good luck!
