Hi,
The OBC hack is fairly simple, but a little involved. It can be done in about 45min.-1Hr. Here is a pretty good instruction:

Bear in mind that this is for a 986, but the procedure should remain pretty much the same. You will need to have a dealer turn-on the OBC function. Many will do this to display the ambient temp, but on the '03+ cars, you need to configure a little wiring to get it to work and add a switch or 4th stalk to make it fully functional.
