Could be wrong but as I recall if you just unplug w/o reprogramming the dash light will give you a fault.

But short term, yeah unplugging will prevent interference.

A little more detail...on my '99 - the fault will clear after the car is turned off (so no spoiler fault on the next power on) but it will return if the car reaches 75mph when the ECU tries to raise the spoiler and stay illuminated until the power is turned off.

I got it unplugged, that was a pain.

No light at idle. Curious about when at speed tho.

You could always take the light bulb out of the warning light in the dash.
