Please provide more specifics on the lights (ie requirements, etc). As you are doing the mock-up using a extension cord, I assume there is a transformer involved...what's the output? I suppose you could use an inverter to supply power to the transformer, but that's just dumb.

They are just a set of LEDs in a tube. I hooked to a battery tender. Supposedly they hook to the side marker lamps for turn signals and DRLs but since I dont have daytime running lights Im not sure if they will work as DRLs. No instructions. 🙄

Just get a drl harness, something like this

You can get ones that turn on automatically when the voltage changes, or ones that you need to connect to the AC to turn on. Some also come with stuff like a delay off, or flashing with the indicators etc. Just search eBay for drl harness and pick what you like.

If the voltage is the same, I'd assume that it's as simple as connecting the ground then connecting one lead to the side marker (to act as DRL if switch is in first position) and the other to the turn signal in the headlight assembly. From your pics, it looks like there are 2 different bulb colors, so the amber would go to the turn signal (obviously) and the white to the side marker. If the harness doesn't have a relay, the white would remain illuminated (as the side marker doesn't flash)...you might want to make sure that the amber is bright enough to be visible over the white.

Thanks for the info. It is extremely bright. Hard to take a pic of it. I had to darken this pic so I could see the covers. I'm pretty sure somehow the white light is shutting off when the amber flashes. No sure. I'm not an electricity guy 🙄

This is correct.

The unit in the picture with the wires coming out is a switchback controller, so it will shut off the DRL when the turn signal is activated.

Black to ground, red to parking light, yellow to turn signal.
No additional controller is necessary.

So it should work even without the DRL wiring kit I ordered? Cool I wish I had some wire ��
That kit is still good because it comes with wire and connectors. Also its supposed to read voltage so it knows when the car is running and powers the running lights.

Seen a few of these 986/996 gen 1 front light conversions - mostly they suck.
But this one hits bulls eye.
Very nice indeed - 993ish look.
Not so much talking about the led thing but that is nice as well!

I think someone has altered my lights - The front orange only work as indicators and are not on as running lights - also my fog lights can be switched on independently of the headlights.
