if you wish to cover the turn signals altogether consider, as PW says, running the turn signal wiring to the marker lights on the side of your bumper and having them blink instead. or you can do like a 997 and put them in your headlight assembly (drill a small hole and stick and led in there).

But honestly, you see white everywhere, not a biggie at all anymore, but amber is the eye catcher. There are amber wrapping foils for lights btw.

I couldn't agree more. 10/10ths and I may be in the minority but I like the 986 headlights. Very practical design and are well integrated into the whole car design. Not crazy about the later turbo look 996 lights but they are distinctive as well and clearly define the model years.

I think we, collectively, are in that awkward time period between "dated" and "classic" and I would gather the OP is fighting the "dated" and trying to "freshen" the look (which I can understand). Personally I have never fallen into that trap because anything "new" will become "dated" and if updated, it just starts the cycle again. Classic just stays classic.

I suppose it's the same with clothing fashions...in future photographs, anything trendy now will look dated, whereas anything classic will look the same...dull, but not dumb. Personally I've been wearing Top-Siders, khakis and white shirts since the 80's and if it wasn't for my hair, it's hard to tell when a pic was taken. Dull? Maybe. I just call it classic...or perhaps as a child I was just overly influenced by the Professor on Gilligan's Island.

Anyway, update headlights if you wish, but remember that 20 years in the future 718 owners will be lamenting over how dated their headlights look. At least by then (hopefully) the 986 lights will look classic....and yes, maybe then amber will be the new white.

Back to the OP...at least your having fun. What else really matters?

Nothing looks more wrong then old cars pimped to look pseudo modern.
aftermarket chinese LED rear Lights nowadays just look sad compared to the original look or latest technology. Only way to go IMO is backwards…or like e.g. Singer (a classic look with latest Technology)
That is what JB is trying to do. He is going for a classic look….not a modern look, I hope
I like the last design, too. PORSCHEs are not meant to keep them stock, I am pretty sure, but to each their own

i've no problem with the fried eggs. i do, however, recognise that the 986 was an effort to acknowledge porsche history with styling nods to the 356, 550, rsk, etc. so, i understand efforts to reinforce this. sometime it goes too far, and the 986 to 550 conversions, while i understand the concept and vision, are awkward in execution.

i think that is the question here. i understand the intent to go to round headlights, pseudo horn grilles, etc. - to 'backdate' the car and further acknowledge porsche tradition, however i am uncertain that it translates when actually executed - are you looking at the end product objectively or subjectively? are you seeing what you want to see or how it actually works with the car as a whole? not sure yet myself.

ps, the counter arguments are that the fried eggs are now part of porsche tradition (hey, 25 years old now) - they are the backdate.

In my case it has nothing to do with the fried eggs. It more of the, I wonder if I can do it thing. I'm retired and there is only so much grass to cut. I bought the car to play with. Heck more than half of the stuff I've done to it I end up changing back. I just hope I dont run out of stuff to screw up. Thanks for the input all 😀

I actually like it. I'd prob go a lil lower, 1/4". No reason it has to line up with the hood.

They look pretty good, although I think the blinkers deserve a little bit more love.
Cut out should be a little bigger and maybe with some wire mesh inset.

I give him an A for quality and design but
I already bought a set, sent them back. On a black or dank blue car I think they look great. I'm sure that's why those colors are used in ad. On red the just don't look the same. 🤷****♀️

How about ALPINE style with DRLs (e.g. LEDs should be in the frame, not blocking the fog light)

I know ☹ He's soooo close. He's got the bottom of the headlight hole recessed, the real looking headlight surround. Both great but the edge by the hood, it doesn't cover the headlight! He told me on black cars you just add a tape stripe to cover the headlight edge but non black? If he would of put a downward edge all the way around it would of worked nice. Also I ordered the plug and being polyurethane I don't see how you'd hide the edges of the plug or mod it.
Just glad I got a refund.

Hopefully he takes feedback into consideration, he might come up with an edged version?
Nevertheless, I used a silver Grey metallic wrap to cover a blank spot, next to my bezels. Works.
You really have to take a close look to notice a slight difference to my seal Grey color.
So I do understand, if he used that Option with less build up instead of a fully covered edge which will conflict with the gap line of the hood (the bezels which I used had that problem).

How to hide the edges of the plug? Tell the paint shop to use filler before priming and then a few thin layers of PUR-laquer paint, done? No?
