Slave cylinder access

Has anyone had any success getting to the slave cylinder ? I need to remove it to try and grease it up to see if that resolves a squeak I have.

I tried getting to it with the back of the car on jack stands in my driveway but it's at the upper part of the transmission and seemed very difficult to get to so I stopped.

I'm thinking about trying a nearby DIY garage so I can get the car up on a lift (there is a place about an hour from me that you can rent lift time). That seems like it would be easier to get to the slave cylinder, and I can do a few other things at the same time (i.e. coil pack repair/replace, oil change).

Anyone have any success with this particular part? I don't want to rent the lift time if it's just as difficult to get to that way.

Lift will make all those tasks easier but I don't see how the slave cylinder can squeak. Most be the clutch throwout bearing or pedal.

It was suggested to me take the slave cylinder oyt to lube the end of it and spray some white lithium grease in the bolt holes to try and quiet a sqeal in the throwout bearing.

So I'm trying to confirm having the car on a lift would make removing the part easier before I try it.

I really would not be spraying ANY type of lubricant into the bell housing, it is going to end up on the clutch. The throw-out bearing is sealed, you could submerge it in oil with out any affect. If the throw out bearing is making noise, it is time to take the car apart and fix it properly. There are no short cuts here...……….

I may have misunderstood what was suggested then. He told me to spray some lubricant on it, not in it. I assume that means the end of the slave cylinder that fits inside the transmission then, rather than into the transmission.

The clutch and throwout bearing were replaced two summers ago, about 20k miles.

If the end of the slave rod needs to be lubricated, the slave needs to be pulled out and a very specific lubricant called Optimol olista longtime 3EP applied in small amounts.
