For me, I’ve enjoyed the cat-delete project, but still #1 on my list is the OBC and CC activation that was possible due to my new, good friend Dwight’s (pdwight) superb harnesses. Dwight - don’t work so hard!

GT3 console delete. Might not be for everyone but it has transformed the car for me. Both comfort and heel-toe ability improved immensely.

For the track, Sparco race seat. Aesthetically, I like my #44 in a circle for that retro look.

I just finished the 9x7 shifter upgrade. Best $100 “mod” I’ve come across. Do it! I replaced the knob with the “classic” aluminum knob from Function First. (Available from forum sponsor Pelican) The boot was worn, so I ordered up a replacement from Redline Goods. I got blue stitching on black leather and it looks awesome with my Metro Blue interior. Very happy with how it came out. Smoother shifts...a small ~15% reduction in throw...zero “notchiness.” I can’t say enough about the improvement over my old shifter.
It’s part number: 99742401000 easy to find new or used.

It's a tie between the Comfort Top relay and the 3-4 stalk OBC upgrade.
(the double din Pioneer head unit is a close third)

Comfort Top.

Is it possible to buy the relay? Or, does the mod need some other "work". Looked for a how too, but only found one.

You can buy a rely I think they are $450. I did see a mod somewhere on how to jumper the relay also, but was a while back.

My Cayman spoiler and my body kit.

Are you referring to this?
Top Operational while-in-motion

Removal of the Secondary Air Injection system.

The SAI is an air pump that injects air into the exhaust for about 90 seconds at cold start up to help the catalytic converters get up to temp faster and to reduce cold start emissions.

The air pump itself is on the passenger side of the engine compartment above the intake manifold. It kind of looks like an alternator but without a pulley.

When you start your car cold, listen for a motor whine in the background for a short time. That's the SAI pump working.

Thanks. Why remove this pump if only used the first 90secs? Weight?

I beleive that is the one, but I think it only permits operation. The replacement comfort top relay adds one touch operation, no button holding.

Because the system (air pump, vacuum valves, electronic valves) is prone to issues that trigger a CEL and will cause cars to fail inspections in some states. Even when it seems to be working properly, the system may not show "ready" status in the monitors and cause it to fail.
Ironically, I actually had my system working flawlessly after years of tracking down and fixing issues when I decided to ditch it. :D

Function First console riser...can finally use the lid for my arm and the shifter is higher.

NWI Bill 04-08-2018 04:02 PM

For me, installing the 997 GT3 Shifter. Made the car feel like a new one. Nice positive shifts with a shorter throw .

maytag 09-17-2018 09:05 PM

I've owned the car long enough now to have an opinion.
Favorite mod thus far: turn off the PSM! HAHA

a very close 2nd: the AASCO lwfw.
