I think it is a little easier to replace the AOS while the transmission is out. So that may be something to consider. I assume they will tell you if the CV joints and boots are in good condition. If your transmission needs anything, that's another "as long as you're in there" thing to take care of, but if it shifts fine, the synchros are good and it stays in 2nd gear then I think you're good to go there.
