Where's the 987 forum?

maybe it would make sense to branch off the 987 stuff seperate from the 986 stuff. I mean, its already that way for the Cayman. Some boards have done it (rennlist/renntech) and others have not (this one and 6speedonline).

There are just too many differences between the models for much if any information to be shared (from a technical perspective).

Simpletons like me would appreciate it.

i hate the fact that this website is also used by 987 porsche owners. i find that i read a lot about new problems, and things that really don't relate to my car 986. i guess this site will pretty much turn into a 987 web forum in time and us 986 owners will have to find somewhere else to go.

i can't deal, they should put a new section in, that lets 987 owners talk 987. then i can cut the 987 all that i want, and not fear that i may offend someone because i don't like there car.......lol/jokes.

There are pros and cons of each approach. Frankly, I like to deal with both and see the interchange as useful.

But, that is just me.

Perhaps you can start a poll thread to see what folks think in the aggregate.

Honestly i was just joking. for us 986 owners it shouldnt be an issue, reading about the new cars, and all the upgrades. really the cars are the same. the things that have change are very minor, if not more exterior. more refined.

or i'm just jealous, n want what they have a, new toy. for that matter i hate and love both cars, so i dont mind that 987 owners come here. its actually good for them and 986 owners.

it'd be like saying, that every year should have its own forum. the 1997 boxster is fairly different from the 2004. i don't hear them complaining, that we took over there forum.

Yes there are, at the popular Porsche forum sites that handle all models.

Just taking a quick look at the first page of threads in the General Discussion area, it appears that most threads are about topics that apply to both Boxster types. Maybe splitting the tech section up into separate 987 and 986 sections would make sense, but aside from that I think it would be better to keep the other sections integrated.

If Porches sells like Honda or Toyota, it might make sense to split the forum to 986 and 987 because the number of existing audience IMO.
