Auto dimming mirrors.

My 2001 Boxster S rear view mirror seems to be malfunctioning. There is a darker area about 1/2 inch around the edge of the mirror which I assume would normally be lighter if the mirror were functioning properly. It does obscure the view so I'm thinking of replacing the mirror. Any recommendations?

What does it look like? I have an auto-dimming mirror from an 08 Boxster. Don't see any Porsche serial #s on it, so not sure if it's the same mirror as yours.
