Trouble removing oil pan on 1997 2.5

My 1997 Boxster oil pan doesn't have the "boss" that would enable you to pry it off. See photo. My oil pan doesn't have the protruding piece that is circled. It doesn't appear to have ever had it-the finish is factory smooth. Any tips on getting this pan loose?

A rubber mallet or other soft material mallet should be more than sufficient to break it loose.

agreed a rubber mallet should get it started. You could also try carefully breaking the silicone seal with a putty knife or similar. Once you get it loose in one spot it comes off very easily.

There are other places to very gently pry if you look around.

Use caution.

I just replaced my oil pan in June and I tried the rubber mallet first but nothing. As Quadcammer said I used a utility knife and a flat edged screwdriver, then and sharp, to brake the seal and slowly pry the two pieces apart. Be carefully of scratching the 2 surfaces. I may have even wrapped the head of the screwdriver with a rag as well.

Success. Thanks for your suggestions. I used a thin plastic spatula and a rubber mallet. The spatula broke, but the oil pan is off.
