Installed sound system!

Retrieved the car from the installer today. Out of the bim and into the 98:

Eclipse CD 5425 into the...

Rockford Fosgate Power T400-4 powering...

Dash mounted pair of Alpine SPR-50C

Rear deck 5.25" Crossfires with quick-connects (for when the top comes down)

Nicely complimented by the Kenwood KSC-SW11 mounted at the top of the passenger footwell, covered by the floor mat. Invisible.

Oh! The Alpine CHM 5620 mounted nicely in the frunk, in front of the battery,

I must say, the Kenwood exceeded my expectations. I had actually fabricated a 3/4 MDF enclosed box with an 8" Polk Audio sub. Looked terrible. Major fail. My research, comprehensive, led me to the Kenwood.

Just wanted to share. Sounds great!

New Stereo

Hi - congrats! Maybe you could post a few pics and give us an idea of how much this all cost? Thanks!

Sounds like a nice install. That sub on the foot well is interesting. I have the Infinity Basslink SM behind the passenger seat and feel it sacrifices the recline mode. Can I see some pics of the install, may have to move my Infinity?

Thank you! I'll work on the pics.

The Alpines on the dash were in the car. I replaced the Kenwood KDC 448V with the Eclipse that, in 2005, I had installed in my 86 325. The Eclipse has about 20 hours on it and is virtually NOS. I believe that ran me $300 back in 05... 06? I had an installer do everything at that time.

The Crossfires, 100W) on the rear deck I pulled from the 86, and placed into SMALL speaker boxes I picked up on eBay. So... $40 there. The speakers at the time I believe ran me $125 for the pair.

The Alpine 6 CD changer ran me around $325+ back, um, way back. Maybe 20 hours on that so, again, NOS. That I pulled from the 89 535i.

The Rockford Fosgate came with the car. $400.

The Kenwood subwoofer I paid $145.

The install was $460.

So... after I tally up everything using actual prices paid for everything (which you could purchase, used, for less now)...

$1,820.

Because I had most everything... my out of pocket was, including install, $650.

Sourced on eBay... probably less than $1K. Not including the install.

Have a great day.

Thanks, eBay and Crutchfield(for the warranty) are my favorites for car audio.

I took your idea and moved my Infinity Basslink SM to the front passenger footwell. Think I like that spot better. Thanks for the idea.

My wife drove it for the first time today, so I sat passenger. Me 6'1. She's 5. I could tell it was there... both feeling it at my feet and the sound coming straight up. I assume you've the floor mat hiding it?
