Suitable gearbox / transmission oil for 986 Tiptronic 1998
Hi,
I tried looking around but I'm still confused.
As I intend to do a thorougu flush, I would like to commit to buying a huge quantity of ATF for my 1998 Tip Boxster 2.5L
May I know what kind of oil is suitable?
Is Castrol Dex III ok?
In addition, if I want to do a thorough flushing, how may litres should I standby?
Many thanks in advance.

Would Castrol Transmax Multivehicle be good enough? It is rated as Dexron III and MERCON qualified.

The fluid our tip required is Mobil ATF #3390
Your Porsche Service Center is a far more appropriate venue for questions about engineering and their compatible fluids. All it takes is a VIN# and 5min phone call mate (its free)

Hi
Unfortunately i get the feeling that the service center in my country doesn't seem to enjoy entertaining old Porsche boxsters..
Is this one from Amazon appropriat? Cheers

Thank you
Will look at the alternatives on the pelican part article. The original is a little too expensive for me.
Cheers

Pentosin 1058206 ATF-1 Synthetic AutomotiveTransmission Fluid, 5 Liter
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JMAQ0LW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This is the stuff that came in your Tiptronic from the factory - same as Porsche P/N: 999.917.547.00
5 liters is more than enough to refill it after a filter change, but you'll need more if you want to change what's in the converter.
Amazon is showing me a price of $70.53 USD (Amazon Prime price with free 2-day shipping).
I have no idea what the shipping would be to Singapore though...
Hope this helps.

How much for the oil alone, if you don't mind me asking.
Did mine at the P Service Center here a few years ago; included the filter and fluid and I think it came down to little more than $300 all together (forgot the exact price). They also scan your car and do a throughout inspection for free also.
All while waiting in their VVIP waiting room, sitting right next to the best ever Espresso Machine, flipping high quality HD Porsche books and pictures and talking Porsche with other owners
I even got a free Porsche keychain and a 24"X48" wall poster man. A Macan but still, a poster is a poster LOL
Hope this is inspirational enough for you bud
