How does the beast breathe ???

Simple question..... as i was washing my 987S, i noticed that the driverside vent is essentially blocked off---bit the passenger side vent seems to be open....

Is this the air intake?

One's for show?

I could easily be wrong, but I thought the passenger side vent was for engine compartment ventillation.

Hi,

Right side Vent is for the Engine Bay Cooling Fan, Fan is actuated when engine bay temp exceeds 185F, below this threshold, it provides passive ventilation. Left side is the intake for the engine, it looks blocked because there is a baffle inside to deflect any water which may enter the vent to avoid Hydro-locking the motor. Hope this helps...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99
