Newbie Boxster owner in Indiana

Where is the best independent shop to have the IMS issue replaced without having to get a second mortgage on my house?

It will depend on what bearing you are replacing it with. There are a bunch of companies offering replacements. Have you decided on which bearing you are going to use?

Depending on your mileage, do you need to be looking at your clutch/RMS while you have the trans out?

LN has two lists of certified installers for their products.

Preferred Installers – IMS Retrofit

Certified Installers – IMS Solution

Would you care to narrow down by region?

Looking for a shop in Central Indiana. I'll let them determine which bearing and if the clutch needs replacing at the same time. I've just heard horror stories about Tom Wood Porsche's pricing..

Theres a shop right across from Carmel Motors called Auto Haus, i believe they might be able to do it. Tom Wood is an option, but damn its expensive there.

There is a shop called Redstone just outside of Indy. I have heard really good things about their quality and integrity.

2nd Redstone. PO serviced my 986 there. They can service high end vehicles and work/build open wheel racers too.

Can use pcarshops.com to help find one local to you and search here or Google for reviews. Welcome to the forum BTW and I am here if you need anything.

I've taken my 2000 Boxster S to Mikar (https://www.yelp.com/biz/mikar-carmel) in downtown Carmel because it's a few blocks away from where I work. They frequently have Ferraris and Lamborghinis in there, so I figured they'd be safe to trust my 986 to. Guys are very friendly and no B.S.

A friend of mine with a 911 and Cayenne takes his to Euro Motorworks in Fishers (close to I-69 just south of 96th St.). https://www.euromotorworks.com

Welcome to the Porsche club! Be sure to check out the Central Indiana Region PCA too!
