Temp

I have a 2003 Boxster with a Porsche cdr 23 radio. It powers up and plays about 8 seconds then I get a temp mesage before it shuts down. I can power it back on but keeps doing the same thing. Can someone please help

Thanks

Sounds like your radio has an internal fault.

Agree. Most likely a small component failed that results in the temp circuit indicating that the unit is always over temp. Replacement is probably the easiest path forward.

I have the CDR23 and its a finicky thing indeed. I sent it and the amp off to Becker when I first got the car (amp was bad, bought a refurbished unit) and it was bench tested at that time (2015) with no reported issues. However, mine powers off after about every hour of continuous play. No biggie , as I only use it on long trips and mostly enjoy the flat six stereo. Also the volume and tuning controls are very slow to react to a turn of the knob.

My CD player on my CDR23 tend to be tempermental.

At $180 for the replacement off of eBay it's not to bad.

The other route is having these guy refurbish your radio.

Interesting. My CDR 23 plays the radio fine but when playing a CD or through my iPod interface it runs fine for about an hour then shuts itself off. I turn it back on and it runs for an hour or so then off. I'm reluctant to pull the unit or the amp for fear I'll make it worse.
