Bra or no bra?
I did a search under bra but the engine didn't pick anything up for some reason.
Heading out on a road trip in my 06 987 and am debating if I should get a standard bra (not clear 3m type).
Is it worth it? protection vs. hassle?
Which bras come recommended?
Thanks for any info you can provide.

You can; just make sure it does not get wet and the paint and bra stay very clean.
personally, I dont like them except for the track.

I drove from Houston to Northern California and back without a bra on the car (had to qualify that for you smartalec forum members!). Give the car a good wax before you leave and don't tailgate big trucks... you'll be fine!
I had a bra on my Eclipse and only used it on long trips... which were too few to warrant the cost of ownership. And when it rained on the road and road dirt got under it it scratched the crap out of the paint along the edges.

personally, i dont like the look...or the fact that my car is wearing a bra.
but, if protection is REAL important you definattly want it. I have many big chips in the paint on the bumper, that is going to require repainting to make it look good.

For the track or a big road trip, go with the bra. Everyday driving, go braless...

I have a bra for my Box. I use it all the time, but I make sure to keep it clean, take it off if it rains, and keep the car waxed. Mine is not a fashion statement; it is necessary.
I live in a rural area so even a "quick" trip to the store is over 20 miles round trip, and down a highway that is a main truck route. That and the gazillions of bugs since there is a major river and a large lake nearby make it mandatory. Cleaning the bra and windscreen after every drive in the summer is a necessity. When I return from a drive, both are convered in bug guts. (ick!)
Oh, and this year I've been plagued with Avian Suicide Bombers too. I have hit no less than a dozen birds so far this year while driving (or should I say they have hit me???) including two while driving the Box.
I know the bra saved my paint both of those times.
For me, it is worth it!

I will echo what others have said. Take it off if it gets wet and be sure to keep it clean. I only use mine for trips out of town. Personally I hate the "look".

I have both!
the clear bra is a must have.
My last car didn't have it and what an eye sore, all those little pop marks crudely covered up with touch up paint.
I use the bra for autocross/DE/etc.

Hi,
Clear Bra - waste of time, maybe not right away, but over time you'll see what I mean. Vinyl Bra, very visible, but a necessesity if you want to avoid front end paint damage. I have the OEM Bra and only use it on high-speed road trips. As mentioned, keep it and the paint clean and remove to prevent getting it wet and to eliminate UV paint fade marks...
Happy Motoring!... Jim'99

I have both the 3M clear bra and OEM Porsche bra.
I say the standard bra is worth it for long trips, makes cleaning the bugs off real easy
