I was never a concours/keep it stock guy. To each their own.
Form follows function sounds logical, but IMO good design STILL depends on harmony/balance, and beauty ....well, is defined by a lot of individual factors.

That spoiler lip is too much for my taste. Someone get me my Photoshop...voila...better now. BALANCED

Edit: Fender flares and (wide) body kits are not really my cup of tea...that's why I had to photoshop them, too.

The Boxsters look good stock. I don't care for the tail. But, the flares really don't look right to me. I do like the color and the graphics.

well, i would bet $ that there is an air/air intercooler in there - logical place for one if you can get airflow over it (ie, that's where the intercooler lives on kpaz's turbo subi boxster).

me too on the tails but there's something that makes me like this one, maybe its the colour too, not so keen on the poor fitting flares but the only options are far too expensive for what they are, my wheels aren't big enough to worry anyway haha

I like it. Why not try something different. But I'm not sure about roadster with a whale tail. Seems very 1980's Miami Vice.
Might be better on a Coxster.

My old boss heard an older co-worker bought a Carrera with a whale tail and thought it was absolutely hysterical. He kept saying "He bought a car with a whale tail! A whale tail!!!".

P.s.
I'm not a fan of lowering a Boxster that much.
Makes it look like it's just for show at the cost of compromising the ride quality and possibly handling depending where it's being driven.

I think that's why this car has a soft spot in my heart lol

As our boxsters age we're seeing slightly less mods that update the cars (led lighting etc) and more that give them a more retro feel! I think it's a fun development.

Hey, why don't you put a header scoop on the hood?
Oh, thats right, there's no engine under there.

Absolutely!

The whale tail wasn't PORSCHE's ...let's say....best looking design.
On the other hand it still is original PORSCHE equipment. That is ALWAYS a plus.

I think, after MY PHOTOSHOP spoiler lip deletion, it could look even better than those GT4 spoilers on a Boxster. GT4 spoiler on a Cayman = great, on Boxster = not so great.
Actually, I need more photos (different angles) to get a better idea
Rusty, do you have some more photos?

Practical use...BBQ grill maybe, or...how about an air cooled storage and stand for some cool drinks at the beach...possibilities are endless.
