Driver's Door Handle Broke

Went to open my door and at first it felt like it was locked. Pulled again and nothing. Is there a cable that can break?

Yes there is but its not a cable per say but a plastic retainer that attaches to a threaded bolt on the handle and they are tricky as hell to get to work once replaced. I had to replace door mechanism on my passenger side and it took far longer than it should to get the door handle to open the door every time.

If you put your key in the lock, turn it to the left and hold it there, your windows will go down. This will make it easier for you to open it with the inside door handle until you get it fixed.

I had this happen and it turned out to be a very small pin linking the outside handle that had fallen out. Easy fix.

You have to take the door panel off to get to the nuts that hold the door handle on. The space is tight and you will be working mainly by feel. Not a job for someone with big hands. It will help to look at the exploded diagram in the parts catalog or shop manual.
