Love the G2 caliper brush on paint, I've used it several times. Nice job. Now just order some decals up from eBay and you're done!

Love the chrome twist wheels

How much prep work did you do here ??

I need to do this badly

Looks good! Where did you source the G2 paint?

patssle 05-31-2017 06:17 PM

Not a whole lot of prep...just a wirebrush then some sandpaper. It's not perfect but you have to be a foot or two away to see the imperfections. Nobody is inspecting my brake caliper paint job!

I bought it off Amazon...this is the RED version. https://www.amazon.com/Temperature-Leveling-G2-Caliper-System/dp/B000AUMYMM

Thanks for that - maybe a winter project :)

Por 15 makes a great brush on kit. Says 2 calipers per kit but I did all 4 and had paint left over. Very little prep needed on mine. Didn't have to disassemble anything, just masking. Paint is self leveling. Very easy job. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1496319925.jpg

Nice - need to freshen mine up and get new decals

Looks great. How many coats of G2 paint did you apply?

Looks great! I am a big fan of painted calipers, they add just a bit of interest to what is otherwise a fairly boring wheel. Nicely done.

3. Was almost good with 2. Had enough paint left for probably 5 total coats.

Any reports on how the brush-paint jobs hold up after a few years ? I ask because if the job starts to deteriorate after 1 year it would be a waste.
Any comparison Por 15, G2-Amazon,VHT, Duplicolor other than the useful Amazon reviews?
Avoid -Vivid wrap product which is way faster but mixed results !

I used the G2 brush on kit like 8 yrs ago, and it still looks good. Held up great...

I can't comment on painting them, but I used DupliColor Caliper spray paint on mine about 10-11 years ago (about 70-75k miles) and they still look really good. If I recall correctly I put about 4 coats of paint, then the decals, then 2-3 coats of clear. They have held up much better and longer than I ever expected, the only problem area is some scuffs on the top of the calipers from careless rim swaps. If I could go back in time I would also avoid using harsh rim cleaner on them, I think it has dulled the finish a tiny bit, but not much.

G2 Product

Is this a POR product ?

I am familiar with POR as many off road folks use to stop rust and corrosion......I read it is very very tough

+1 on POR

I used the POR fuel tank treatment before and it is a very impressive product, however DO NOT let it touch your skin because it Will Not come off…. guess how I found out

I was not aware that POR offers bright red paint but I would definitely consider it when decide to refurbish my calipers (but I will be using large rubber gloves…lol)
