One year in

Hi all ' I thought some of you would be interested in my first years experience with my Boxster. The car is a 2003 2.7 tiptronic, had done 52,000 kms with full service history.
I bought the car after watching it on a used car website for several months , so I knew the BMW dealer would be keen to sell.
Some minor issues emerged after delivery due to my lack of detailed inspection prior, so security bolts missing, mesh inserts in roll over bar missing only one key.
I had a major service after purchase by local independent which entailed all new fluids, spare key, two rear tyres and a wheel alignment, magnetic drain plug and wheel lock set.
Just had my 12 month service with advisories, minor coolant leak from coolant pump, minor RMS leak, rear arm joints rattling slightly. So $A 2500 spent for 6500 kms so far.
I still love the car, but maintenance requirements are much higher than our daily drive
2009 SAAB V6 Aero Convertible at over 80,000 kms.

In the first 16 months I had mine, before I did the clutch/IMS, I drove 4K miles and did one oil change myself....so maybe $65.

I am 77 years old so no longer fit enough to do my own servicing as I did in the past so use a local independent specialist.
I am not too concerned with the cost so far since some is one off and depreciation is minnimal from now on compared with a new car of similar quality and technical interest.

Cheers Alan
