Can anyone identify this?

Found this brass nut / cap on my driveway.
Any ideas what it is? It may be off the Box or X3 or (hopefully) fell out of the heating contractors truck that was here last week.

I'm guessing it's from the heating contractor's truck.

Doesn't look like anything you'd find on a German car.

The refrigerant caps on cars are typically plastic. That is a brass cap and is either an A/C port cap or it can also be used in plumbing.

It's brass and used in plumbing not on cars. Go to Home depot and you will find them

See if it fits the fitting on the fuel rail after cleaning it

As the guys said above, it's for HVAC plumbing, not for cars.

Different types of valve caps

Its the cap for your fuel rail test port.

You get schooled everyday. Lol. What is the fuel rail test port and where is it on the box?

It is the cap to your AC (or someone's ) test ports. It will likely fit on your car's fuel rail test port too.

How likely is it that the fuel port test cap fell off and made it past the engine and brace sitting in the driveway?

Yeah, I know... I still think it's just an HVAC cap that fell off the HVAC truck that was there at his house, but interesting to know that it's also used in the fuel rail. Better than finding nails and screws that I usually find in my driveway after contractors leave.

Well, as we literally keep a bag of these things around due to the number of times we find cars without one, I'd say reasonably good.

Oh, I don't doubt it may be missing, but I'm an AC tech and not only is that the exact style of cap I've seen a million times, it's the location. I doubt it would fall on his driveway and not on the road. Then, there was a heating / AC guy. It adds up.

I think the original poster needs to settle this back and forth by inspecting their Box and Bimmer to see if it's missing any copper caps on their fuel rails!
