Maybe a n00b question

Maybe a stupid one, but do I need to be especially careful when washing the Box because of the top? This is my first convertible with this kind of top, so do I need to do something special in order to prevent water and/or soap from soaking in? I always have my cars hand washed, so I'm careful that way. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm new to this one.

Also, should I be worried at all by having the car in the rain (with the top closed, of course) a lot? I live in Portland, OR and it rains A LOT here, and when this car becomes my primary driver, it will be in the elements a lot of the time, except while at home, when it will be in the garage.
